Last week's snow and ice storm didn't prevent diners from helping Mike Rhayem officially open Cedars Restaurant in Camp Hill.
In the midst of the storm, he held a grand opening at the Lebanese restaurant at 2153 Market St. More than 30 diners turned out to celebrate Valentine's Day in the cozy Middle Eastern establishment.
People have been "very happy, very joyful," Rhayem said.
The opening marks the end of an eight-month hiatus for Rhayem, who closed Cedars in midtown Harrisburg last summer. There, it operated on the second floor of a used bookstore.
Like its predecessor, the new Cedars will dish out Lebanese specialties and host belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights. In the summer, dining will spill out to the sidewalk with tables, hookahs and a barbecue grill, Rhayem said.
The lunch menu includes a variety of pita wraps such as baba ghannouj, falafel, chicken or lamb kabob and soujok, and priced under $7.50.
The appetizer section is extensive, with hearts of palm, grape leaves, spinach pies, kibbe balls, meat pies, tabbouleh and marinated mixed olives.
Entrees focus on several kinds of kabobs, such as the shish kabob, lamb, shrimp and kefta kabobs. There is sauteed quail marinated in garlic, lemon juice, olive oil and spices; sauteed veal tongue; pan-seared whole fish; and Msakaah, baked eggplant, chick peas and onion in tomato sauce over rice. Entrees are priced $10.95-$21.95.
Hours: 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Closed Monday. Phone: 238-3360.
